Why the Amalfi Coast?

This culinary adventure takes place in Amalfi’s enchanting coastal village of Sant’Agata sui due Golfi, only a short drive from Sorrento. Hugged by miles of rolling, lush green hills and glisteningly azure Tyrrhenian Sea, the Amalfi region and its myriad traditional fishing villages and charming towns form one of Southern Italy’s most dreamily beautiful spots.

On this cooking course on the Amalfi Coast you will tour the region and you will be able to experience the idyllic surroundings and charmingly rustic towns and villages, taking in all the sights and sounds of its culture, and getting to grips with the unique flavour combinations that really define this area of Southern Italy. From the luxurious island retreat of Capri to the haunting historical ruins of Pompeii, through the tangles of cobbled streets that run throughout the region’s multitude of littoral towns, you will explore the culture, stunning natural landscapes and undulating vineyards that have enchanted and seduced travellers for generations.

Situated atop Sant’Agata sui due Golfi’s verdant hill-scape, The Amalfi Coast Culinary Experience will take place in the spacious and modern kitchen of the four-star hotel you will also be staying in. Built specifically for culinary tours and classes, the kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you could possibly need, with sleek granite counters and an outdoor veranda with breathtaking views. You will be led by Chef Carmen, a well-respected expert on Mediterranean cuisine, who will take you through every step of the process to produce dishes including Sorrento-style gnocchi, stuffed calamari, Neopolitan artichokes and of course, the traditional pizza. All recipes you will use call for fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and have been passed down through generations of cooks and families. After you have worked hard preparing and cooking your dishes, it’s out to the veranda to reap the delicious benefits of your efforts, enjoy a drink and a laugh with other pupils, and take in the beautiful splendour of your surroundings.

The Amalfi Coast is known for its production of Limoncello liqueur or "Sfusato Amalfitano”


Day 1

You will be picked up from Naples Airport at around noon, or if you are arriving by train, the Naples station at around 2:30pm.

You will then transfer and check into the gorgeous Oasi Olimpia Relais Hotel and are free to settle in to your room or get out and explore the village itself. In the evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner of locally produced and sourced cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant. Perfect way to meet everyone else at the cooking class on the Amalfi Coast.


Day 2

Spend the morning at a local farm, which has long been one of the most renowned producers of olive oil, mozzarella and hard cheeses in the region. You will be given the chance to try your hand at the production process, before settling down to a glorious lunch, followed by a cheese, olive oil and lemoncello liqueur tasting session.

You will return to the hotel for the afternoon, and be free to relax in the hotel or explore the village a little more before your first cooking lesson with Carmen. The dishes you produce in the class will then be enjoyed with a well-earned glass of wine.


Day 3

After class you will be whisked away for a tour of the town of Amalfi. Wander the incredible streets of this coastal town, where the lapping ocean sets the laidback pace of life. You will be provided with an incredible packed lunch, provided by Chef Carmen before exploring the town as you wish. Return to the hotel for dinner, which will comprise the dishes you prepared in the morning’s class, and enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda.


Day 4

Depart for a tour of a local winery, situated at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Enjoy a wine tasting session and dig into a traditional spread for lunch. Return to the hotel for some free time before dinner, which will be eaten at a charming local restaurant.


Day 5

Today is a day trip to the island of Capri.
Weather permitting, on the gloriously beautiful island of Capri you will be able to visit the incredible Blue Grotto, and explore the tangle of streets that overlook stunning harbour vistas.
You will return to the hotel in the afternoon, and then head over to the kitchen to make some pizza dough with Chef Carmen. You will then be able to produce traditional pizzas, customised according to your own tastes, and then tuck into it as the sun goes down.


Day 6

Today is your last cooking class with Chef Carmen preparing freshly produced dishes for lunch. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore Pompeii on an optional excursion and dinner can be eaten in the village or at the hotel restaurant.


Day 7: Departure Day

After breakfast, check-out and transfer back to the airport or train station for your return journey.
